Saturday’s home game is changed to Wednesday 5th January

Still behind closed doors, opponent is now the Manchester Storm

The Cardiff Devils are scheduled to play the Glasgow Clan on Saturday, but under Scottish Government Covid protocol, the Clan are required to stay in isolation for 10 days, which makes them unavailable for the 8th January in Cardiff.

Saturday’s scheduled home game is required to be played behind closed doors, and rather than switching opponents and creating 3 games in 3 nights scenario for one of the teams in the league, we are moving the home game to Wednesday and we will be playing the Manchester Storm.

Lammon-V-Manchester-JA-cs.jpgDevils Managing Director Todd Kelman explained the change of plans:

“Originally, we were told that our 2 home games on December 27th and January 1st were required to be played behind closed doors, but this weekend’s game still falls into the initial 2 week period, which started Boxing Day.  So that means the 8th would be played behind closed doors as well.

“With Glasgow unable to play, we could shift another team into a weekend date, either Friday or Saturday, but since we cannot have fans in the building and with teams already playing a congested schedule, we decided to play the Manchester Storm on Wednesday 5th January at 7:30pm.”

The game will be shown online via Devils TV and all season ticket holders and corporate partners will have free access to watch it online.

If you have purchased tickets for the game on the 8th of January, you will receive an email sometime over the next week with match night ticket vouchers to redeem at a future game of your choice.    We apologise for the inconvenience, but hope our fans understand that we must follow the guidelines for professional sport.

The Devils will return the favour and play in Manchester on Saturday 8th January against the Storm.  The Dundee Stars, who the Storm were meant to play on Saturday, are back in Covid protocol and will be unable to play this weekend.
