Lake Tahoe, Nevada will host two NHL outdoor games this weekend.

This Saturday the 20th February, the Colorado Avalanche and the Vegas Golden Knights will face-off. Then, on Sunday the 21st February, the Boston Bruins will play against division rivals, the Philadelphia Flyers. NHL teams only play games against teams in their division this season, so each game is crucial. Saturday's game will be shown live and free on Freesports and is set to start at 8:00pm UK time. Sunday's game is on BT Sport and again faces off at 8:00pm UK time.

Colorado Avalanche vs Vegas Golden Knights - Saturday

Two of the favourites to win the Stanley Cup, the Avalanche and Golden Knights have world class rosters. The Avalanche have former first overall pick Nathan MacKinnon and last seasons Calder trophy winner (rookie of the year) Cale Makar. Whilst the powerhouse Golden Knights have former Stanley Cup winning captain, Alex Pietrangelo and arguably the best two-way forward in the NHL, Mark Stone. Both teams play in the Honda West division, the Golden Knights sit top of the division with 21 points and the Avalanche sit in third and have 17 points (at the time of writing). This season the Avalanche and the Golden Knights have played twice, both teams recorded a win. Most recently the Avalanche beat the Golden Knights 3-2 with a late goal from Nazem Kadri who scored with 41 seconds left in the game.

Boston Bruins vs Philadelphia Flyers - Sunday

The Boston Bruins sit at the top of the MassMutual Eastern division with 10 wins, 2 losses and 2 overtime losses, this gives them a total of 22 points (at the time of writing). The Bruins let long-time Captain Zdeno Chara leave the team for the Washington Capitals in the summer and haven’t missed him one bit. The Bruins have star players like Charlie McAvoy, Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak. It is almost a sure thing that the Bruins will be competing for the Stanley Cup once again this year. Their opponents the Flyers have been very impressive too. The Flyers have incredible depth up and down their roster. They also have one of the best young netminders in the league, Carter Hart or Carteh Hart (in your best Boston accent), if you’re a fan of the popular hockey podcast Spittin’ Chiclets, which features former Devil Paul ‘Biznasty’ Bissonnette. The Bruins and the Flyers have played four times already this season with the Bruins winning all four games. Each game was a close affair, the Bruins needing overtime and penalty shots to get the victory.
