The Devils have added 6’3” Canadian forward Stefan Fournier for the remainder of the season.

Fournier joins the Devils from the Wichita Thunder in the ECHL where he has played for the majority of the past five seasons.  In 17 games this season with Wichita, Fournier had 7 goals and 5 assists for 12 points.

Last season in 2021-22, he started in Slovakia with HK Dukla Michalovce before returning to the ECHL and playing 9 goals and 11 assists in 26 games.  Fournier is a former ECHL All-Star and twice scored over 20 goals with Wichita.  He played 142 games in the AHL over his first four seasons of pro, splitting time between the AHL and ECHL.

Before turning pro, he won the Canadian Major Junior National Championship (Memorial Cup) with the Halifax Mooseheads where he captained the team that included current NHL star and Stanley Cup Champion Nathan MacKinnon.

Head Coach Brodie Dupont spoke about the signing of Stefan Fournier:

“The reports we have on Stefan are very exciting, a player that I believe our fanbase will instantly embrace.

“He plays with an edge, throws his weight around, is willing to drop the gloves and scores dirty goals in front of the net.

“There are guys on our team that played against him in the ECHL and know what kind of player he is.  They know what he can bring to a team, and they are excited to have him coming in. So am I. “

Fournier signed before Christmas but was unable to travel until Boxing Day.  He lands on the 27th but will not play against the Coventry Blaze. The Devils expect to have him in the line-up against the Guildford Flames for their home game on December 31st
