The Devils powerplay had plenty of chances with Adam Deutsch in the box for tripping, but they couldn’t convert. The Panthers broke the deadlock at 14:49 when Georgs Golovkovs sprung Jacob Hansen down the boards and he beat Ben Bowns with a blast over his shoulder to go up 1-0.

After a scoreless middle period, the Devils needed a response in the third period but instead the visitors got their 2nd with a shot from Brett Perlini that snuck under Bowns at 45:32. The Devils continued to press and finally pulled one back on the powerplay at 51:18 when Matias Sointu banged in a loose puck after an attempt by Joey Martin to make it 2-1.

The final 5 minutes saw the Devils with another powerplay chance but Kevin Carr was their best penalty killer making a handful of big saves to keep the scoreline 2-1. The clock ticked down and the Panthers skated away with the points for their first win after 7 straight losses.
