One of only 4 new faces to the Cardiff Devils this season is defenceman Marcus Crawford.

The 25 year old Canadian iced for the Kansas City Mavericks last season in the ECHL where he led all defencemen in scoring with 11 goals and 41 assists for 52 points in 63 games.  He was selected to the ECHL All-Star game where he was named MVP after scoring 3 goals and one assist.

He also played for Kansas City in 2020-21, putting up 12 goals and 30 assists in 63 games while playing with current Devil Brodie Reid.

Head Coach Brodie Dupont spoke about this signing:

“Crawford is a smooth skating defender who plays with an edge and was a top player last season in the ECHL.

“He can quarterback a powerplay and is as strong defensively as he is offensively. He has had two big years in Kansas City and is excited to make the move overseas.

“Marcus comes highly recommended from Brodie Reid who played with him previously and believes he can do similar things here in the EIHL that he did in the ECHL.”

Crawford spent 4 seasons in the OHL (Ontario Hockey League) with the Saginaw Spirit where he put up 149 points in 252 games including a 53 point season in his final year before turning pro.  He will wear number 15 this year with the Devils.
