Todd Kelman | Managing Director
The 2017/18 season will be Todd Kelman's 4th season in charge of the Devils. In his 3-year tenure, the Devils have won 2 Erhardt Conference titles, 2 Challenge Cups and 1 League Championship. His partnership with Andrew Lord has seen the Devils enjoy 3 of the most entertaining and successful seasons in Devils history. This on ice success has been mirrored in attendance figures with season tickets up over 300% since Kelman and the Canadian ownership consortium took over the Devils in July 2014.
Kelman took over the management of the Devils after seven successful seasons as the General Manager of the Belfast Giants. Previously he played for the Giants and was a member of their first ever roster, where his jersey number (44) is now retired. In his seven years as GM Kelman’s teams won five Championships including two of the previous three league titles before coming to Cardiff.
Kelman has an MBA from Queens University in Belfast and an undergrad degree from Bowling Green University in Ohio where he played four years of NCAA College Hockey before turning pro. Kelman is married to Shauna and they have two sons, Matteo and Noah.
Andrew Lord | Head Coach
Andrew Lord returns to the Devils for his fourth season and third as head coach. In 2014-15, his first season in charge of the Devils, he led the team to the Challenge Cup Title, the first major trophy for the Devils in 9 years. He was also selected as Coach of the Year by the UK Ice Hockey Journalists.
In 2015-16, his second season as player-coach, Lord guided his team to the Erhardt Conference Title as well as leading his team to the Challenge Cup final, the Playoff Finals weekend while narrowly missing out on the League title finishing in 2nd place overall, just 2 points behind the League winners. He was nominated for Coach of the Year as chosen by the GMs and Coaches around the EIHL.
On the ice, Lord continues to be one of the top players in the league. Last season he registered 51 points in 64 games including 13 goals, while also displaying his fearless style of play and leading by example for his teammates.
Lord previously spent time in the AHL with the Oklahoma City Barons for one and a half seasons, where after a season ending injury was given the opportunity to help the coaching staff. This became a great learning experience for him and the knowledge acquired has helped him tremendously in his coaching role.
Before turning professional, Lord played four years of NCAA Division 1 University hockey in the USA. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. He also earned his MBA from Cardiff Metropolitan University last season. Lord was born and raised in Vancouver, BC, Canada, where he returns each summer to spend time with his parents and sister.
