Ben Bowns made 31 saves to lead the Devils to a 1-0 shutout against the host team in Grenoble on Sunday night.

The win means the Devils advance to the Continental Cup Final in January against Herning Blue Fox, Nomad Astana and GKS Katowice.

After a scoreless first period, it was Justin Crandall who scored for the Devils at 21:13 assisted by Jamie Arniel and Cody Donaghey to put the Devils up 1-0.

The Devils penalty killers were on form killing off two penalties in the first period and one in the second before finally getting a powerplay of their own late in the second period.

Head Coach Pete Russell praised the team:

“For our team to play three games in three nights with a long day of travel to start shows the character of this group.

“We faced adversity after the first game but pulled together and became stronger as a group. The players were fantastic, and I think this was a great trip for everyone involved.

“It was amazing for our team to be driven forward by the 300+ fans that travelled to France to support us.  I feel a real connection between the team and the fans, and we all celebrated the win on Sunday together after the game.”

The team were also supported by two of the owners and their families that flew over from Canada for the weekend in Grenoble.  Steve King and Brian Parker were impressed with the team and the support from the Red Army.

“The fans were simply awesome,” said Steve King, “they made the atmosphere this weekend and were loud and proud from start to finish.”
