Dixon returns in 2020-21 for his third season with the Devils after putting up 33 points in 63 games in all competitions for the Devils in 2019-20. His 20 goals in EIHL competition was good for second on the Devils behind his linemate and leading scorer Joey Haddad. Along with Charles Linglet, Dixon and Haddad combined for one of the most lethal forward lines in the Elite League last season.
Dixon joined the Devils in the summer of 2018 from the Grizzly Wolfsburg in the German DEL where he spent 2 seasons. Before that he spend two years in Finland’s top league with Tapparra, and prior to that spent seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), Finland, Sweden and Germany in what has been an impressive professional career so far.
He was a 2003 draft pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins and prior to turning professional, he won Silver and then Gold at the World Junior Championships representing Canada alongside a team of future NHL stars including Sidney Crosby and Patrice Bergeron. He was captain of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles before turning pro, an organisation that has also produced Joey Haddad and former Devil Chris Culligan.
Dixon is one of the best hitters in the league as well as one of the top face-off men. He played a vital role on the 2019 Playoff winning Devils side and has been a firm fan favourite since his arrival in Cardiff. In his two seasons he has won the Player’s Player Award, the Red Army Travel Player of the Year Award and the Scott Matzka Award for his consistency and work ethic on and off the ice.
