The Devils took the lead midway through the opening period when Charles Linglet scored off a face-off win by Stephen Dixon at 10:34.

At 28:11 they doubled their lead with a cross ice pass from Mike McNamee that Matt Pope hammered past Tomas Duba on the powerplay to make it 2-0.
The Steelers battled back to tie the game with 2 goals in less than 2 minutes. John Armstrong got them on the board at 30:35, then Marek Troncinsky scored at 32:31 on the powerplay to tie the game up at 2-2.
With just over 2 minutes left in the middle period, Michael Davies tipped in a shot past Ben Bowns to give the Steelers a 3-2 lead after 2 periods of play.

The Devils opened the third period with just over a minute of powerplay time and it paid off with a tying goal from Blair Riley at 40:59, then less than a minute later they were back on top when Linglet found Joey Haddad for the Devils 4th goal to take the lead at 41:49.
The Devils looked like they were going to hold on for the win, but Lucas Sandstrom tied the game at 54:03 to make it 4-4 with 6 minutes to play. Then with 3:59 left in the game Marc-Olivier Vallerand stuffed a puck through Bowns to give the Steelers a 5-4 lead.

The Devils pushed for the tying goal, but it didn’t come and the Steelers took the win between the top two teams in the league and a vital two points in the race for the Elite League title.
