Before turning pro, Barrow played 5 seasons at the University of Denver, winning a National Championship in his final year.

Barrow is one of the hardest working players in the league and plays in all situations.  He played a key role on the Devils penalty killing unit last season, which was the best in the league.

Paul Thompson spoke about re-signing Ryan Barrow:

"I’m happy to see Ryan is coming back for his third year as a Devil.

"Watching lots of tape of Ryan he really does empty the tank every game.  I know he has a great attitude on the ice to the game and I hear he is a first class pro.

"Players like Ryan are crucial to successful teams and we will be leaning on him in areas to contribute to our goals."
