The Cardiff Devils are proud to confirm the continuation of our strong and growing partnership with the Bristol Pitbulls, a key relationship that helps create real opportunities for young British players to take their next steps toward the highest levels of the game.
This collaboration has already proven to be a success story, with players benefiting from meaningful ice time, development support, and exposure to top-tier hockey environments. Together, both clubs are committed to nurturing talent and helping shape the future of British ice hockey.
Richie Hargreaves, Bristol Pitbulls:
“It’s an exciting partnership that continues to benefit both clubs but most importantly, it’s a win for British players.
"I’ve had ties with Cardiff going back to my own playing days, so to now be working alongside such a professionally run and respected organisation is something I’m incredibly proud of. The Devils have always been committed to supporting the British game, and we’re thankful to be part of that vision.
"The pathway between the Pitbulls and Devils is already showing results, with a number of players getting well-earned opportunities to step up. We’re fully invested in continuing to grow that connection.
"We’re proud to play a part in helping develop homegrown talent here in the South West guiding players, pushing them forward, and giving them the best possible platform. We’ll continue to support the Devils at every opportunity and are excited for what’s ahead.”
Todd Kelman, Cardiff Devils:
“Over the past three seasons, the partnership between the Bristol Pitbulls and the Cardiff Devils has grown into a strong and valuable player pathway.
“In a sport where opportunities for homegrown players can be limited, the link between the two clubs has created a genuine route for talent to progress, a pathway we are proud to be part of.
“The results speak for themselves: multiple British players have had the chance to get their foot in the door, gain valuable professional experience, and test themselves at the highest level in the UK. Once again, we look forward to continuing this relationship.
“This connection has already paid dividends. Players benefit not only from game time, but also from exposure to top-level coaching, elite facilities, and the culture that Cardiff is renowned for.
“We’re proud to support the Pitbulls in their long-term vision — developing local talent, giving them meaningful ice time, and preparing them for the demands of higher-level hockey. We wish the Pitbulls every success for the season ahead.”
As part of the continuing partnership, we are pleased to confirm two more talented young British players on two-way deals with the Pitbulls and the Devils – Netminder Harry Thomas and forward Jacob Bryceland.
Thomas played last season for the Cardiff Canucks and also played 11 games for the Pitbulls. He has just turned 17 and will be playing with the Pitbulls this season while training with his hometown team, the Cardiff Devils.
Bryceland spent the last two seasons in North America, playing in the USPHL for the Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings where he led the team in scoring 2 years ago. At 21 years old, he is expected to have an immediate impact with the Pitbulls in his first season in the NIHL.
