The Cardiff Devils are pleased to confirm the re-signing of 27-year-old Kohen Olischefski for the 2025-26 season.  Last season, he scored 18 goals and 28 assists for 46 points in all competitions.

Olischefski is the definition of a two-way forward. He plays a strong defensive game but has the speed and the shot to be an offensive threat.  He brings an incredible work rate to every game and is one of the best penalty killers in the league. olischefski-v-dundee-Jan-3-JA.jpgBefore joining the Devils, Olischefski played in the top league in Germany (DEL) with Dusseldorf.  In 52 games, he scored 11 goals and 9 assists for 20 points.

Olischefski spent four seasons at the University of Denver, one of the top hockey programmes in the United States before finishing his amateur career at Providence College.  He turned pro with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL), the top affiliate of the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres.

He split the 2022-23 season with Rochester in the AHL and the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL where he scored 9 goals and 17 assists in 43 games.  Dusseldorf came calling after that year and he made the move to Germany ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Olischefski was voted as the team’s ‘Unsung Hero’ by his teammates at the Devils Annual Awards in April 2025. olischefskiv-katowice-jan-16-RB.jpg-.jpgHead Coach Paul Thompson spoke about this signing:

“I’m delighted Kohen has signed another contract with us for the coming season.  Watching him, I like the fact he can play in all forward positions.

“He plays a very good 200 feet game with and without the puck and competes hard every night.

“I’m told that he is a great leader and teammate and an important part of our group. I’m very happy he’s back in Cardiff for another year.”
