League MVP Joey Martin Returns For Devils

The league’s leading scorer, forward of the year and Player of the year will be a Devil for another season.

Joey Martin has signed up for another year in Cardiff after a standout season with the Devils in which he scored 31 goals and 53 assists in 63 games to lead all players in overall scoring.

Martin was picked by the coaches and GMs around the league as the top forward and the player of the year.  He also won both of those awards for the Devils for the second straight season as well as the Player’s Player of the year.  He was also selected to the First Team All-star team at the end of the season.

“He is the complete package and was the best player in the league this season,” said Andrew Lord, “he is our top scorer, he is a total pro, he is one of the best penalty killers on the team, he blocks shots, he plays hurt, he is an absolute warrior.

“Off the ice he does all the things right to keep himself in top shape and that is why he has been so consistent for the past two seasons.”

In his two seasons in the EIHL, he has scored 82 points and 83 points while scoring 26 goals in 2014-15 and 31 this past season.

Joey Martin said "I am obviously very happy to be back for another season.  I love playing here and we love living in Cardiff.

"I think the permanent move to Ice Arena Wales changes things for this team, I am excited to be in the new arena from day one next season and I am looking forward to another great year with the Devils."
