After graduation, he moved overseas to play for Gap in the top French league where he led the team in assists and finished second in overall points.  The next season he moved to Sweden to play for Vimmerby HC, putting up 33 points in only 24 games before Covid cut the season short. kontos-kristianstads.jpgKontos in Sweden with Kristianstads IK (photo Imago)In 2020-21, he stayed in Sweden and lit the league up, scoring 23 goals and leading the league in assists with 39 and points with 62.  The following season he moved up to the Allsvenskan league to join Kristianstads IK and again led his team in assists with 35 and points with 50.

He moved to Slovakia to play for HC Banska Bystrica in 2022-23 where he played on their top line and put up 17 goals and 30 assists in 57 games.  He then moved back to Sweden to play for AIK in Stockholm in 2023-24 putting up 21 points in 33 games. kontos-AIK.jpgKontos celebrates a goal with AIK (photo Imago)Paul Thompson spoke about Kontos:

“Kristoff was a key figure in the growth and success of the Nottingham Panthers last season.

“He has good size and is a smooth skater with great play-making ability. He plays a strong 2-way game and has an eye for the goal as well.

“Adding a top offensive player who already knows the league was a key ingredient in our decision making to bring him to Cardiff.”

Kontos will wear number 27 for the Devils this season.
