Despite trailing 4-1 after 22 minutes, the Devils battled back to squeeze out a 6-5 win over Milton Keynes.
The Devils got off to an ideal start with Stephen Dixon scoring at 2:29 off a rebound after Patrick Killeen initially robbed Sam Duggan with a point-blank opportunity.

The Lightning took over from there scoring 4 unanswered goals to build up a 4-1 lead. The first two were both scored by Robbie Baillargeon, his first at 4:35 then his second at 11:29 to give the visitors the 2-1 lead.

Tim Wallace made it 3-1 beating Ben Bowns at 17:29 to end the period with a two-goal advantage, but they weren’t done there. Just 1:59 into the middle period, David Norris fired a cannon over the shoulder of Bowns to make it 4-1 and silence the sold out crowd at Viola Arena.

Then the comeback was on.
At 24:54 Joey Martin scored his first of the game to pull the Devils within 2 goals. Just 81 seconds later Sean Bentivoglio made it 4-3 with a nice set up from Mike Hedden and Gleason Fournier.

At 31:26 Joey Haddad found Mark Richardson out front of the Lightning goal who beat Patrick Killeen to tie the game up at 4-4. Before the period was out, the visitors would take back their lead with a powerplay goal from Andreas Valdix at 37:29 to make it 5-4 after two periods of play.

It took the Devils 25 seconds into the final period to tie the game, courtesy of Joey Martin with his 2nd goal of the night.

After Lightning player Martin Mazanec was tossed from the game for head-butting, who else but Joey Martin scored the game winner with his hat-trick goal at 53:44 on the powerplay.
