Jessie Mychan is Newest Devil

The Cardiff Devils are delighted to announce the signing of Jesse Mychan as the latest recruit for the 2014-15 season. 22 year old Mychan from Saskatchewan, Canada joins the Devils after an impressive season with the Colorado Eagles of the ECHL and will wear number 80 for the Devils. In his first full pro season he established himself as a popular player amongst fans and teammates by scoring an impressive 11 goals and racking up 262 penalty minutes including 21 fighting majors, earning him a 3 game call up to Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.

Mychan is excited to bring his high energy, physical style to Cardiff and Head Coach Andrew Lord is looking forward to coaching and playing with him:

“I am overjoyed to have Jesse join us for this upcoming season. I am also very excited for the great personal opportunity this will be for him. Fans you will love this kid and he is going to get the BBT rocking!

"Jesse is a warrior, a true gamer and has great character for a younger player. He also has good skill for a player that plays his style of game and I am determined to help with his development as a professional. He is hungry to improve and turn himself into a great power forward.

"Through the talks I have had with him, the reports I’ve received and the video I have watched he is very passionate and plays his heart out game in and game out. He will help create the energy we need but will also contribute offensively. I’m sure the fans will join me in welcoming Jesse to Cardiff.”

Director of Hockey Operations, Neil Francis added:

“When we set about building this team, our objective was to put together a team that will compete every night and reward the loyal Devils fans for their fantastic support. Andrew has promised a high energy style of hockey and we needed a guy to set the bench-mark for that.

"As soon as we looked at Jesse we all knew he was the guy we wanted and moved quickly to sign him. ‘Cardiff Devils Hockey’ is all about playing with energy and physicality week in-week out and Jesse will lead by example on this front which become contagious to his teammates. As will all our guys, it is important that they are not one dimensional and Jesse will also contribute with big goals at key moments.”
