The Cardiff Devils are pleased to confirm the re-signing of British forward Sam Duggan.  Despite being just 26 years old, the upcoming 2025-26 season will be his 7th with the team.

Last year, he iced in 52 league games, scoring 4 goals and 4 assists.  He also scored twice in the playoffs, including the game winner in the first game of the quarterfinal series against the Coventry Blaze.  He played a prominent role on the league’s best penalty killing unit last season, helping the Devils to an 83.23% success rate.

Duggan originally joined the Devils in November of the 2018-19 season when he was only 20 years old and has been a mainstay with the club ever since.  In his 6 seasons with the Devils, he has played over 400 games in all competitions and has lifted the Playoff Championship trophy twice (2019, 2022) and the IIHF Continental Cup in January 2025. duggan-v-dundee-oct-14-JA.jpgHe was picked for the National Team again this past season, helping Team GB win a gold medal and gain promotion once again to the top tier of the World Championships next May.

Duggan played his youth hockey in Bracknell but moved to Sweden when he was 16 to play for Orebro in the U18 Elite League. He spent four seasons with Orebro, eventually captaining his side for two seasons.  He also captained Team GB at the Under 18 and Under 20 level.duggan-v-sheffield-feb-26-RB.jpgManaging Director Todd Kelman spoke about Duggan:

“Sam is one of my favourite players we have ever had in Cardiff.

“He brings so much to this team, some of what the fans see on the ice and so much that they never see in the locker room and away from the rink.

“He is a glue guy for this club and part of that is because of the work ethic he puts in every shift and the positive energy he brings with him wherever he goes.  I wish all players loved coming to the rink as much as he does.

“He scored some big goals for us in playoffs, and I think there is more of that to come next season.”SamDugganInterviewThumbnail.jpg
