SIGNED-Brett-Ferguson.jpgThe Devils have signed Canadian forward Brett Ferguson.

Ferguson joins the Devils after spending the previous 7 seasons with the Guildford Flames, the last 4 as their captain.  Last season in 50 league games he had 11 goals and 22 assists for 33 points.

The previous season he scored 18 goals and 41 points and in 2022-23, he scored 22 goals and 67 points and was voted onto the EIHL Second All-Star Team.

Before turning pro, he spent 5 seasons with the University of Alberta Golden Bears, one of the top University programmes in Canada.

The 35-year-old Ferguson can play centre or wing.  He plays with an edge and skates well. Standing at 6’0” tall, he is a power forward that can put the puck in the net, something he has done 105 times in his 353 games in the EIHL.ferguson1.jpgPictured above:  Ferguson in action last season with the Flames (photo John Uwins)Head Coach Paul Thompson spoke about the signing:

“Brett’s game will suit our style of play.  His experience of the league and his leadership skills will make us a better team.

“He plays hard at both ends of the ice and he is difficult to play against.  I’m very pleased we were able to pick up a player of Brett’s ability.”

The Devils moved quickly to find a forward after finding out last week that Nolan Yaremko will likely be out for a few months with a lower body injury.  Yaremko had missed 7 of the 19 games the Devils have played so far in league and cup.

Ferguson flew into Cardiff earlier today and is expected to be in the lineup this weekend when the team travel to Scotland for 3 games.  He will wear number 18 for the Devils.
