Sunday’s game was the reverse score of Saturday in Belfast, with the Devils taking the 1-0 win after losing by the same score the previous night.
It was a much feistier affair than the night before, with big hits at both ends of the ice. Blair Riley and Liam Morgan dropped the gloves just 9 minutes into the game and both sat 5 minutes for fighting.
The lone goal of the game came on the powerplay in the first period when Joey Haddad finished off a pass from Sean McMonagle at 17:43 with Joey Martin drawing the other assist on the play.
The middle period saw a powerplay for the Devils but the Giants successfully killed it off to keep the scoreline 1-0 after 40 minutes of play.
At 48:25, Devils forward Masi Marjamaki was called for checking to the head on David Goodwin, which put the Devils on the penalty kill for 5 minutes. Some great penalty killing from Mark Richardson and Shaone Morrisonn and some huge saves from Ben Bowns kept the sheet blank.
Three minutes into the man advantage, the Giants took a tripping call to nullify the remainder of the powerplay and the Devils held on to win the game. The victory was Ben Bowns’ 33rd shutout as a Devil in his 6 years with the club.
