The Devils travelled to Northern Ireland to face off against the Belfast Giants in Cardiff’s only game of the weekend.
They were facing a Giants team that were returning to home ice for the first time after 17 straight road games.

The Giants didn’t take long to open the scoring when Jim Vandermeer scored on the powerplay at 5:12 of the opening period with Mike Hedden in the penalty box for interference.
A minute later the Devils tied the game when Evan Mosey roofed the puck over the shoulder of Tyler Beskorowany in net for Belfast at 6:13 to make it 1-1.

The middle frame saw the Devils give up the only goal of the period at 26:57 when David Rutherford made a nifty behind the net pass to Blair Riley who snuck it past Ben Bowns to put the home side up 2-1.
An impressive individual effort from Charles Linglet tied the game up in the third period after he drove past the Giants defence to tuck the puck past Beskorowany and make it 2-2 at 43:55.

Both teams traded chances the rest of the third period, but neither could break the deadlock. The 3 on 3 overtime saw end to end action and chance after chance, but the clock ticked down and this game had to be decided by penalty shots.
