The Devils got back to winning ways on the second night of their Scottish Double header.
The hosts on Sunday night were the Dundee Stars and the Devils didn’t take long to get on the scoresheet.
Josh Batch picked up a loose puck in front of the Dundee net and tapped it to Matthew Myers who found the back of the net at 3:22 to make it 1-0.
The Devils doubled their lead with 1:40 remaining in the opening period through Sean McMonagle who tucked the puck into the net after a shot from the blue line from Gleason Fournier that was initially stopped by Alex Leclerc.
The Devils carried their 2-0 lead into the middle period, but an early 5 on 3 powerplay for the Dundee Stars gave the home side a chance to get back into the game. The Devils managed to kill the penalties but almost immediately after they got back to full strength, Dundee were on the board thanks to a Colton Kroeker strike that made it 2-1 at 25:54.
Stephen Dixon and Blair Riley sprung loose on a 2 on 1 just over a minute later with Dixon beating Leclerc to make it 3-1 at 27:06. Drydn Dow converted on a penalty shot to pull the Stars back within one at 35:01, a score line that stood after 40 minutes of play.
Both teams traded chances in the final period but the lone goal came in the dying minutes of the game with the Devils converting on the powerplay.
With Craig Gans in the penalty box for hooking, Sean Bentivoglio set up behind the Stars goal and eventually found Joey Haddad at the side of the net who stepped into a cannon that beat Leclerc to give the Devils a 4-2 lead with just 2:13 left to play.
The Devils finish the double header in Scotland with a win after suffering a defeat in Fife the previous night. Next up for the Devils is a home game next Saturday against the Sheffield Steelers.
