Devils Bounce back to win in Nottingham on Sunday

Despite trailing 3-1 midway through the game, the Devils scored 4 straight goals to pull off the comeback win over the Panthers.

Despite trailing 3-1 midway through the game, the Devils scored 4 straight goals to pull off the comeback win over the Panthers.

Nottingham opened the scoring just 3:14 into the game when Mark Matheson deflected a shot past Bowns to make it 1-0. The Devils evened the score immediately off the face-off just 11 seconds later with Blair Riley taking the feed from Masi Marjamaki to beat Kevin Carr in net for the Panthers. Joey Martin got the second assist on the play and with that became the highest scoring Devil in the history of the Elite League.

Panthers forward Georgs Golovkovs scored a beauty to give the homeside the lead again at 22:40, then he turned provider for the Panthers third goal, finding William Quist wide open on the powerplay to beat Ben Bowns and make it 3-1 at 30:21.

The Devils pulled a goal back less than a minute later with a powerplay of their own. Matthew Myers slammed home a loose puck after a slapshot from Sean McMonagle was saved by Kerr to make it 3-2 at 31:05.

On the very next faceoff, the Devils were on the attack again with Martin blasting a shot at the Panthers net that was saved but Marjamaki pounced on the rebound and fired it past Kerr to tie the game at 31:24.

The final period again saw the Devils take over the game with 2 quick goals in less than a minute. First it was some excellent work in the corner by Mark Louis who placed a perfect backhand pass in front of Matt Pope who blasted a cannon from the blueline that hit the top corner of the net to give the Devils the 4-3 lead.

50 seconds later, Joey Haddad danced through the Panthers defence and beat Kerr with one of the nicest goals of the season so far to put the Devils up 5-3 at 51:28, which is how the game ended.
