The Devils are delighted to confirm that our new Captain is Joey Martin.

The 2019-20 season is the 6th season in Cardiff for the 31-year-old from Thorold, Ontario, who has been an alternate captain for the Devils since the 2016-17 season.

Joey has been voted a First Team Elite League All-Star in each of his 5 seasons, 3 times winning EIHL Forward of the Year and twice picking up the EIHL Player of the Year.

The announcement was made at the Devils open training where Joey spoke of the honour of being named Captain and paid tribute to his predecessor Jake Morissette:

"It's such an honour for me. It's an honour to wear the Devils badge, and I never take it for granted, so to be nominated as team captain is very special and means a lot to me.

“I learnt a lot from Jake and even Marshy my first year and I’m just so excited about the upcoming season. We’ve got a really talented team this year and everyone is really motivated.

“The new guys have bought into the culture we’ve built here straight away and have all fitted in straight away so we are just excited to get going.”

The Devils are in action for the first time this weekend against Fehervar AV19 from Hungary with back to back home games Saturday (7 pm) & Sunday (6 pm). Tickets can be booked HERE
