The Devils are pleased to confirm the return of Sean Bentivoglio for his 4th season in Cardiff.
The 33-year-old joined the club in 2016 after 5 seasons in Italy. In his first 3 seasons with the Devils, the Thorold, Ontario native has played 216 games across all competitions and recorded 202 points (62 + 140) and won 7 trophies.
During his time in Italy with Asiago, Bentivoglio had the most assists in the Italian league twice (2013 & 2016) as well as the most points in the league (75 points) in 2013.
Before his time in Italy, Bentivoglio spent a season in Germany with the Augsburger Panther of the DEL. Before his move to Europe, he played over 200 games in the AHL with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the top affiliate of the NHL’s New York Islanders who he played one game for in the 2008-09 season.
Head coach Andrew Lord spoke about the re-signing of Bentivoglio:
“Benti is a dynamic player with great playmaking ability and an excellent scoring touch. He’s formed a superb partnership with Joey Martin the last few seasons and together they’ve been a dominant force for us.
"He’s a great team player with lots of character and a proven winner.
“He is a great skater and competes in every area of the ice. Sean’s speed and skill-set make him dangerous every time he is on the ice.”
