Trevor Cox led the way with two goals and Taran Kozun made 28 saves as the Devils beat the Panthers 4-2 on Saturday night.

​The Panthers controlled the first period as the Devils looked a step behind in the opening period.  Kozun was called upon a handful of times to make good saves to keep the scoreline 0-0 after 20 minutes of play.

The Devils bounced back in the second period and were able to have more sustained pressure in the offensive zone. The first goal of the game eventually came from the Devils when Mark Richardson's shot from the right point was deflected past Alex Dubeau by Trevor Cox at 32:00 for his first goal of the night. That was the lone goal of the period and the Devils took the narrow 1-0 lead into the second intermission.

Cox scored his second of the game early in the third period with a superb finish as he cut inside from the left to beat Dubeau at 41:51.  Then Josh Brittain netted from close range just 38 seconds later to give the Devils a 3-0 lead 42:29. 

The post denied Cox a hat-trick before Cardiff had a goal disallowed after the puck was kicked in by Brodie Reid. Cole Sanford made it 4-0 when he forced a turnover at the Panthers blueline and skated in to beat Dubeau with a low shot through his legs at 49:36.

The Panthers pulled one back moments later when Jordan Kelsall drove in a rebound from close range to break the shutout attempt at 50:42.

Coach Gary Graham lifted Dubeau with just over four minutes remaining to go six-on-five and it paid dividends as JC Brassard and Ferrara combined to set-up Andrew Johnston in the slot and make it 4-2 at 56:57.  The Panthers pulled Dubeau again on the ensuing faceoff but the Devils defended the man advantage well to close out the game. 

Trevor Cox was selected as Man of the Match for his two goal performance.
