Trevor Cox
Man of the Match

Trevor Cox scored twice, including the overtime winner to sweep the weekend series over the Manchester Storm on Sunday night.

For the second game in a row, it was the Storm who opened the scoring just 4 minutes in when Stephen Johnson beat Ben Bowns to make it 1-0.  Just after the half point of the opening period Cox scored his first of the night, a heavy one-timer to tie the game, which is how the period ended.

After trading powerplay opportunities, the Devils finally made the man advantage count when Josh Waller scored to put the Devils up 2-1.  His goal was the only marker of the second period, so the Devils held their narrow lead heading into the final 20 minutes of play.

The Storm were pressing for the tying goal early in the third period, but Bowns was there to turn away every shot.  Eventually, Johnson managed to tip a shot from Zach Sullivan past Bowns to tie the game at 2-2 and despite a handful of chances late in the third period, the Devils could not convert and the game headed into overtime.

The Devils were handed a powerplay in overtime and they made it count with Cox scoring his second goal of the game to seal the 3-2 win for the Devils.
