COUGHLER AND JARDINE BOTH SCORE AFTER RETURNING FROM INJURY IN WIN OVER CLAN

The Devils came from behind twice on Tuesday night to eventually take the points in the road win over the Glasgow Clan by the odd goal in seven.  Jake Coughler and Sam Jardine both returned to the line-up for the Devils after missing the last three months and two months respectively due to injury. Both players made an immediate impact, each scoring a goal in the 4-3 win.

After an even start to the game, Andrew McLean tipped John Dunbar's shot past Taran Kozun off a faceoff to put the Clan ahead with 8:27 played.  An offensive zone turnover allowed Marcus Crawford to send Coughler clear 1-on-0 on John Muse some six minutes later to tie the game up at 1-1 with 14:31 played in the first period.

The Devils had their chance to take the lead with a powerplay late in the first period, but instead it was Niklas Tikkanen who scored his first goal for the Clan shorthanded off a Dyson Stevenson feed to put the home side back ahead with 72 seconds remaining in the opening period.

Josh Brittain set up the tying goal when he fed Sam Jardine driving into the Clan zone and he roofed the puck past Muse to make it 2-2 at 29:11.  Trevor Cox then put the Devils ahead for the first time in the game at 34:34 after Joey Martin sent him in on a breakaway, but 19 seconds later Haden had the hosts back level and the period ended tied at 3 goals apiece.

Cardiff went back ahead 4-3 in the closing stages of period three when Cox's shot from the slot deflected past Muse off of one of his own defensemen at 52:41 for Cox’s second of the game.

That goal would turn out to be the game-winner with the Clan unable to beat Kozun for a fourth time in the dying stages giving the Devils a valuable two points and putting them into third place in the league standings.
