The return of Mark Richardson for another season may have gone under the radar, but he is definitely back for 2017/18, his testimonial year.
Last summer the Cardiff Devils announced that Mark Richardson had been given a Testimonial for his 10th season with the club. A few weeks later, Richardson suggested that he gives up his date to let "The Matchka" - a charity game in support of Scott Matzka and his battle with ALS - take place on that date instead.

Between the club and the player, we agreed to postpone the Testimonial until the following season, which meant that he would get his testimonial during the 2017/18 season.
"I just figured people knew that Richy was on a two-year deal and was back for the 2017/18 season when we postponed his testimonial until this season," explained Todd Kelman, "but I guess I was wrong."
"This isn't like us at all, we prefer to milk every signing or re-signing possible, so really what we are saying is that Richy is officially back and we will be announcing more information on his upcoming testimonial over the next couple of weeks."

Richardson had another standout year, scoring 11 goals and 27 assists for 38 points in 66 games. He was one of only 7 players to play in every single game for the Devils this past season and his 5 powerplay goals was a career high.
He was chosen as the Devils Best Defenceman by teammates and fans this past season, an award he shared with teammate and defensive partner Andrew Hotham.

Most recently he won Gold at the World Championships in Belfast to help Team GB get promoted to Division 1A. He had 3 assists in 5 games with Team GB and was an integral part of the squad for the 12th straight year.

The Mark Richardson Testimonial Game will take place in October or November 2017. We will have a confirmation of the date of the game and how to buy tickets in the next couple of weeks.
