Sheffield Steelers 4 - 3 Cardiff Devils

Faceoff: 17:00 - 17/03/13

Only 79 seconds were on the clock when Tylor Michel opened Steelers account with a powerplay goal but also on the powerplay, Devils hit back and at 7.54 Mark Richardson tied it up. Only 27 seconds on it was Steelers in front again as Jeff Legue fired past Chris Whitley in the visitors cage but back came Gerad Adams' side again and on a 5 on 3 play it was 2-2 thanks to a strike by Max Birbraer.

Special teams came up big for a fourth time in the period to end a hectic session and it was the hosts who hit the front again at 16.29 with Shawn Limpright on target to send his side in 3-2 ahead.

The second session saw both sides score once to keep the game on a knife edge. Steelers actually extended their lead to 4-2 when Ashley Tait scored at 29.01 on yet another powerplay opportunity but Devils were not going away and at 36.01 it was again a one-goal game as Adam Harding was on the spot to fire past Geoff Woolhouse.

An end to end third period saw both sides go for it but there was to be no addition to the score despite plenty of opportunities and it ended with Steelers taking the points after an entertaining contest.
