Coventry Blaze 3 - 4 Cardiff Devils

Faceoff: 17:15 - 07/10/12

After their fine win at home last night against Sheffield the  Devils travelled to the Midlands to take on Coventry, where a win would leapfrog  them over the Blaze into fourth place. An overtime winner from Tyson Marsh gave  the Welsh team the win and a great four-point weekend.

There was only the one goal separated the team after the first  session and it came for the Devils with a strike from Max Birbraer at  7.55.

The teams exchanged goal in the second period for the Devils to  maintain their one goal lead. Birbraer with his second of the game at  25.34 put the visitors two in front. The Blaze pulled one back with a  shorthanded goal from Shea Guthrie at 37.02.

Devils restored their two-goal lead with a powerplay strike from  Mac Faulkner at 50.03 and then 52 seconds later their lead was reduced once  again to one as Mike Schutte scored on the powerplay. With the goaltender  lifted, Mike Bayrack sent the game into overtime as he found the net at  58.59.

With the game heading towards a penalty shootout, Tyson Marsh had  other ideas and hit home the game winner at 63.27.
