Braehead Clan 2 - 6 Cardiff Devils

Faceoff: 19:00 - 22/12/12

Phil Hill of the Devils put in a man of the match performance with his 2+2 as he helped his team collect the points against their Scottish opponents. The second period was when the damage was done. With the teams tied at one apiece the Devils hit three without reply including a shorthanded goal from Hill to take control of the game.

A great start from the home side as Davide Nicoletti fired them in front at 3.13. Both teams were creating chances and it came as no surprise as the Devils got back on level terms as Jesse Gimblett was on hand to find the net at 17.08.

Three goals in a seven minute spell from the visitors put them well in control. The first of these came from Chris Blight at 31.25. Then Hill netted a double at 35.23 and then whilst shorthanded he found the net once again at 38.47.

A goal from Adam Walker at the start of the third period gave the home side a glimmer of hope. However, despite getting another 17 shots on Phil Oaser in the Devils net that early strike at 42.19 was all they could make count. Cardiff made the score line more convincing with two goals 25 seconds apart as Stuart MacRae at 58.05 and then Mark Smith at 58.30 completed the scoring.
