Braehead Clan 5 - 7 Cardiff Devils

The Devils were in Glasgow for the start  of their Scottish double header, they are in the capital tomorrow to face  Edinburgh. And they didn’t let the grass grow under their feet as they got off  to a flying start. With NHL lockout Paul Bissonnette, getting the opener with 72 seconds on the clock.  They went on to take the first period 4-1. The home side did get it back to 5  apiece but then gave up a goal 54th minute and then an empty netter  with six seconds remaining for the Devils to take the points.

Despite being pulled level 27 seconds after opening the scoring the  Devils went on to dominate the first period. New signing Paul Bissonnette was  quickly off the mark as he netted at 1.12. The home side were back on level  terms with a strike from Bobby Chaumont at 1.39. The visitors restored their  lead as Bari McKenzie found the net at 6.11. Then a double from Stuart MacRae  gave them a 4-1 lead. He got his first at 9.31 and then followed that up with a  shorthanded goal at 11.23. At this point Brahead called a time out and this  seemed to settle them as there was no further scoring in the period.

Two goals in  as many  minutes got the home team right back into the game Ash Goldie scored at 27.30  and then player/coach Jordan Krestanovich made it a one goal game as he fired  home at 29.30, at this point Cardiff  called the timeout. With a minute of the second period remaining Ben  Davies netted to give the Devils a two goal spread.

Clan got that goal back quickly as Jade Galbraith found the net at  41.19 and then to the delight of the home support Ash Goldie with his second of  the game restored equality at 45.51. However that was to be the end of the fight  back as Phil Hill netted the game winner at 53.41. With Devils under penalty in  the final two minutes Clan pulled Zemlak for a 6 on 4 unfortunately for them Mac  Fualkner found the empty net to complete the scoring.
