Sheffield Steelers 4 - 0 Cardiff Devils

Faceoff: 17:00 - 11/03/12

Steelers keep doing what they need to do to put pressure on the league leading Belfast and they won their second weekend home game, this one an impressive blanking of Devils with John DeCaro posting 45 saves to lead his team.

Steelers are still seven points behind Giants but have two games in hand, however, the sides play each other next Friday and Saturday at the Odyssey in what are simply in effect title deciders.

It was Devils who dominated the opening period in the House of Steel and outshot Steelers by 12 to 4, however, crucially they could not make the pressure count as the teams went in goalless.

Steelers made the game theirs by taking their chances in the middle session. Player/coach Ryan Finnerty set them on their way by opening the scoring at 22.04 and he was followed by Mike Ramsay at 31.19 on a shorthanded play and the same player again at 35.24.

Devils tried all they could and continued to fire plenty of rubber on DeCaro without any success and Steelers wrapped up the win in the third period when Jason Hewitt scored his sides fourth of the night at 46.42.
