Three special team goals from Cardiff in the final 10 minutes saw them win by the odd goal in seven for the second night running and keeps them on track for a fourth place finish. Stuart MacRae (above) was the Devils top man as he netted a hat trick.
It was MacRae that opened the scoring for the visitors as he found the net at 7.37. The Stars hit back quickly as Jarrett Konkle had the game level again at 8.30 and then a powerplay goal from Dan McGoff at 10.19 put the home team in front.
After a goalless second period, the home side went further in front with a goal from AJ MacLean at 46.19. Then came the Devils fight back as Jamie Vanderveeken on the powerplay at 50.43 cut the deficit to one. MacRae then got his second also on the powerplay at 54.10. With the game heading for overtime, the Devils sniper completed his hat trick with a shorthanded goal at 57.57.
