In front of the live Sky cameras and a record-breaking crowd the Clan and Devils, who are in the midst of fighting for fourth place came face to face for the last time in league action this season.

Going into the game the Devils had a three-point advantage over their Celtic cousins and that was increased to five after they took control of the first period that they won 4-0. Despite a spirited fight back by the home side, they just failed to get anything from the game.

The visitors got off to the perfect start as Jeff Pierce fired them in front with only 41 seconds on the clock. They doubled their advantage with a goal from Stuart MacRae at 6.50.

The Devils added more misery onto the home side with a further two goals in as many minutes to take a four goal lead. The first of these came on the powerplay from JamieVanderveeken at 14.25 followed by a strike from Scott Matzka at 16.42.

Having failed on a 5 on 3 powerplay towards the end of the first period and the start of the second the Clan got off the mark as Jordan Krestanovich slipped the puck home 48 seconds into the period.

Controversy at 29.23 as Kevin Phillips had the puck in the net, the Devils disputed the goal, the referee went to a video review and after some consolation, and he awarded the goal.

The Clan had the puck in the net again at 34.32 However, after the video review this time the goal was washed out.

It was a one-goal game when Ryan Campbell netted a third goal for the hosts at 43.55. Despite outshooting their opponents in the third period that was the only time, they could breach the Devils goal and the visitors went home with the points.
