Dundee Stars 3 - 2 Cardiff Devils

Faceoff: 18:30 - 30/10/11

Stars picked up only their 2nd home win of the season with this thrilling shootout success over a Cardiff side who seem a different team on the road as opposed to pretty solid home form.
It’s a 1st win in 6 for Stars and it moves them right on to the shoulders of both Edinburgh and Braehead in the standings.
Stars took the honours in the opening period when Brennan Turner fired in at 12.05 on the powerplay and in the 2nd period it was the same player who made it 2-0 at 28.50.
The Devils comeback was started last gasp in that 2nd period when with 6 seconds remaining Scott Matzka opened their account.
It was Matzka again only 42 seconds into the third period who tied the game at 2 and despite both sides going for the win regulation time produced no winner.
Nothing doing in overtime either with both sides having chances but in the resulting shootout both Brent Hughes and Lee Mitchell scored with the opening two shots for Stars whereas Max Birbraer and Matzka missed for Devils to ensure the home side ended up with the extra point.
