Sheffield Steelers 5 - 3 Cardiff Devils

Faceoff: 17:00 - 18/09/11

Despite leading for long spells throughout the game, three goals in the final 10 minutes saw Sheffield gain revenge for their shutout defeat the previous night in Cardiff.

Cardiff had led at the first period break after a goal from Sam Smith, only for goals from Ryan Finnerty and Neil Clarke to give the home side the lead.

Phil Hill scored his 100th career EIHL goal whilst short-handed to tie the game and Jeff Pierce restored the Devils lead late in the second period.

It looked like Cardiff might be able to hang on to take the points, but two quick goals from Jason Hewitt and Mike Ramsey swung the game in Sheffield's favour and an empty net goal in the dying seconds from Ramsey saw Sheffield seal a 5-3 victory.

The hosts were back on level terms with a strike from player/coach Ryan Finnerty at 25.06. They then went in front just over halfway with a goal from on form Neil Clark at 30.50.
