Devils retire Brad Voth #26 jersey

The Cardiff Devils are pleased to announce that the Number #26 Jersey worn by Brad Voth will be retired by the Club.

This is the highest honour a Club can bestow upon a player and the #26 Banner will hang proudly from the rafters alongside the 5 other retired Devils jerseys:

7 Doug McEwen

9 John Lawless

14 Brian Dickson

19 Steve Moria

35 Shannon Hope

Devils CEO Paul Ragan stated earlier this week that discussions were taking place on how best to pay tribute to the contribution made by Brad in his seven years with the Club and whilst this may not be the end of the Devils plans, it is certainly the most significant.

‘We felt it was important to take a few days, explore our options and let the dust settle a little on the news of Brad retiring from hockey before any firm decision was made’ said Ragan.

‘I am new to the sport but I understand both the honour this represents and how deserving Brad is of receiving it.

We are looking at other ideas that have been suggested to us, some of our own too and we will announce any further developments in due course.’

The Devils fans gave Voth an emotionally charged send-off on Sunday night when they took to their feet pre-game in an ovation lasting several minutes, which clearly moved the legendary Devils Warrior as he acknowledged their support.

Full details of how and when the Devils will officially retire the jersey will be decided in the coming weeks and months, but as of this day no player will ever wear the 26 jersey for Cardiff again.

We thank Brad for his Loyalty, dedication and performance on and off the ice and look forward to welcoming him back to Wales in the future to see his number where it belongs.
