The Cardiff Devils confirmed 4 signings live from the Devils Summit late last night.
Layne Ulmer, Matthew Myers and Justin Faryna were all confirmed as returning to defend the league title. Then Mike Hedden was confirmed as the first new face to the Devils for 2018-19.
Hedden joins the Devils after spending the previous 3 years in Germany's top league with the Straubing Tigers. He has also spent time in the Finnish Elite League and the KHL.
Before moving across to Europe, Hedden played for the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League for 3 seasons, winning the Calder Cup in 2014, his final season in the AHL.
Hedden's announcement comes with the confirmation of Ulmer, Faryna and Myers as returning for another year.
Faryna scored 29 goals last season for the Devils, good for third on the team. His style of play quickly made him one of the most popular players on the team in 2017-18 and the fans were overjoyed with his return.
Layne Ulmer had another big season for the Devils, scoring 22 goals and 65 points in 70 games. "Big Game Layne" once again found a knack for scoring big goals and was deadly on the powerplay in front of the net. He was a big reason the Devils PP unit was top in the league in 2017-18.
Matthew Myers returns for his 8th season as a Devil, his hometown club. Last season, he scored 11 goals, 6 on the powerplay and finished with 31 points in 71 games. He is one of the best face-off guys in the League and after winning the league and playoff titles last season, he went straight into playing a major role for Team GB winning Gold and promotion to the top-tier of the World Championships.
