American Import Scarbrough flies in for NIHL Duty

The Cardiff NIHL Devils are delighted to announce the singing of their final player for 2012-2013 season, and fill the final import slot with 26 year old Sean Scarbrough. Fairfield, California native Scarbrough represented San Jose State University playing 90 games scoring 109 goals with 85 assists, a total of 194 points.

He then decided to try hockey abroad (in Australia) and played as an Import for Canberra Knights, finishing as top Scorer that season with 41 points in just 23 games and was one of the league’s leading scorers. The following season the sniper moved to Adelaide, where he played alongside GB international David Phillips.

Mark Cuddihy had this to say on the final signing:

‘To say I’m pleased to be able to bring a player of Sean’s quality here to Cardiff is a massive understatement. I have been talking to Sean on and off thought the summer, he sent me videos of himself playing and they are very impressive.

I’m sure he’s going to be one of the quickest players here and has a very good eye for the net. Ally Band contacted me out of the blue and asked if I had been speaking to him, when I told Ally yes he was full of praise for Sean having played with him in Oz.

You only have to look at the numbers he has put up over the last 6 years to see he could be a great success here. Sean has researched our club and he wants to use us as a stepping stone and we have no problem with that at all. He flies in on the 6th so unfortunately will miss the game against our Elite League team and he is disappointed as he really wanted to showcase himself there. He will however be here just in time for our game against Chelmsford on the 8th

Scarbrough himself commented "I am absolutely thrilled to be coming to the the UK to continue my dream of playing hockey around the world. I can't thank Mark Cuddihy enough for this opportunity and I really look forward to joining my old teammate, and friend Alastair Band. I am aware of how these opportunities are few and far between so I intend to work hard on and off the ice, and be able to proudly represent Wales and the city of Cardiff.'

Sean will make his Devils debut on the 8th September against Chelmsford Chieftains and will wear the number 18 shirt for the 2012-2013 season!
