NIHL Devils Armour up
Posted on 28 August 2012
The Cardiff NIHL Devils are pleased to announce the signing of former Devil and fan favourite Alan Armour. Armour returns to the Devils following a 2 year stint at the Bristol Pitbulls.
The showman last played for the Devils during the successful 2009-2010 season where the second-string outfit finished in runners up position just 4 points behind Invicta. The 36 year old Swindon player has a wealth of experience in the Premier and National Leagues.
Head Coach Mark Cuddihy had this to say on the return “It’s great to bring Arms back to Cardiff, It’s a crucial time for the club and NIIHL teams and we need an experienced player like Armour in the team, we have an abundance of young talent coming through our system and practicing with us on a regular basis and having Arms out there with them will only help bring them on.
I have known Armour and played against him longer than most of my players have even been alive!! He was great for us during our runners up year and I’m sure will have success with us again. He has a ridiculous amount of skill and will certainly put ‘bums on seats’ with some of his antics, he’s a good friend of mine and I’m delighted to bring him back to Cardiff”
Armour himself commented “ I am really excited about being back in Cardiff this season and to say I have got a bit of the hockey bug back would be an understatement.
I didnt really want to have to leave last time I was here, but with moving to Bristol and there being a team on my doorstep, logistically it made sense to play there really, although in my heart I was always still DEVIL.
I was lucky enough to be part of the league runners up team last time I wore a Devils shirt and I would love to think we could get up towards the top of the table again this year. The league has evolved massively since then and with everyone strengthening in the summer it's going to be very tough but I know Cardiff always put together strong teams and I have no doubt we will be in the mix.
I love to play in this rink and the fans and players always make feel right at home. I made some great friends here last time and am looking forward to linking up with some players I have enjoyed playing with too.
