Defensive Duo back for Devils
Posted on 27 August 2012
The Cardiff NIHL Devils are delighted to announce the return of Devils Legend Jason Stone.
Stone begins his 2nd season with the NIHL team will play part time for the 2012-2013 season. The Devils record appearance holder, Stone had an ‘as expected’ great first year for the young team, scoring 30 points in just 23 games and was ever present on the penalty kill and power play units for the team. Also returning to the Devils is tough defenseman Ross Wilkinson. Ross accrued a massive 518 penalty minutes in just 49 ENL games and loves to protect his team mates.
Mark Cuddihy commented
'I’m delighted to bring both back for another year. I have been talking to Stoney on and off all summer, we are in a very different situation as a club this season and I’m really pleased he has decided to help me out for another year.
With his work and family situation we have agreed that Stoney will play part time this season, he is a huge player for us and a massive help to me on and off the ice. His experience is 2nd to none having played at the highest level for over 20 years, he’s great for the young D-men coming through our system.
In Ross we have a great player, dressing room guy and somebody that likes to stand up for the team, I’ve never seen him pass up the opportunity to defend a team mate or try and get things going for us when we need a lift. He makes sure we don’t get bullied and that had mentality won us games last season. I was pleased with the decision to call him up last year and he has earned his place this season.'
Stoney will wear his famous number 10 shirt for the Devils and Ross keeps number 55, Welcome back guys!!
