Profile
Arguably the best product of the Cardiff Junior Development system, Stevie Lyle is now in his third consecutive season with his hometown club and the 11th of his career.
After making his debut as a 14 year old, Lyle was named netminder of the tournament when the Cardiff Devils became the first british club to qualify for the semi-finals of the Continental Cup. In 1997 he was named MVP for the Superleague, backstopping the Devils to the first ever ISL League title.
A spell in North America followed before a return to Cardiff in the ISL and then Manchester Storm. When the Storm then folded midway through the season he returned to Cardiff for the remainder of the 2002-03 season, helping them to the BNL Playoff final.
A couple of seasons in the BNL followed before a season each in Italy and France. In 2007 he returned to Britain to play in the EIHL, briefly for Basingstoke and then Belfast. In 2009 though the lure of Cardiff brought him home once more and this season he will be celebrating his Testimonial Season.
