Scott Matzka returns to the Cardiff Devils for a second season after turning down a planned move to France to stay in the city.

Described by Nottingham Panthers Captain Danny Meyers as "the best player in the league last season", Scott finished the year as the 3rd highest score in the league. An incredible workrate in all areas of the ice, Scott was recoginsed as being one of the most complete centres in the EIHL era and was unsurprisingly voted onto the EIHL All-Star lineup for 2010-11.

Matzka was a real surprise re-signing and was probably the point of the summer at which G and I started to get excited for the season.

We quickly agreed a deal that saw Scott return as player and also assistant coach. Now apart from having two of the coaches with the biggest potential to snap during practice sessions, Matzka’s experience as a player in a variety of leagues will be a
huge help to us during the year.

His on-ice work ethic is matched off-ice and he will work hard to ensure that we are well prepared for games and develop our systems as the season goes on.
