Cardiff born Joe Myers returns for a second succesive season for the Devils after a previous spell in the EPL gaining valuable match experience. As a back- up netminder, his role is not an easy one, staying sharp while spending a great deal of time waiting for an opportunity to play, but it is one that suits the 24 year old well.
Neil Francis, Bench Coach for the Devils explained the importance of having a dependable back-up netminder:
“Joe is back to act as regular back-up to Stevie in what can be one of the most difficult roles on the team. We know Joe will compete hard each practice and will be ready if we need him during the season.”
Even when he is not active on the ice, Joe is a valuable member of the team and integral to the team morale as Neil Francis explains: “Joe is a great dressing-room guy, always up-beat and encouraging the other guys and we can’t stress the importance of that enough. He also has the tough task of managing the iPod in the dressing room as well as leading by example to up the effort level in our pre-game ‘two- touch’ football games!”
