Wilkinson joins ENL Devils

The Cardiff Devils ENL team are pleased to announce the signing of Ross Wilkinson. Following his return to hockey, Ross has been helping out playing for the Cardiff Satan's National League Division two team.

The tough, no nonsense defenceman has notched up 480 penalty minutes in his 36 games. Ross will add much needed toughness to the ENL Devils line up and brings many years hockey experience to the young setup. Ross has always been known as a battle-hardened hockey player but last year won his biggest battle of all when he overcame prostate cancer. During his illness Ross didn't miss a single training session or game for the Satans.

Mark Cuddihy had this to Say about his latest signing:

"I have had Ross training with the ENL one team on and off throughout the season; he's a solid defenceman that will add a real presence to our team. He's a great guy and will add so much to our locker room.

I have known Ross for almost 20 years and he loves the game. We discussed the change to the ENL Division one team a few times over the years and he now feels like he can commit to us until the end of the season. Ross is a tough cookie and he's not going to sit back and watch teams take liberties against us.

We wanted to really concentrate on playing hockey this season. I have a really young team and we need someone like Ross to calm things down for us to enable us to do just that. I don't think I've seen Ross lose a fight over the years and he's definitely someone that can play some good minutes on our D and help our younger players on and off the ice. I'm delighted that Ross has decided to finish the season with us and I have to thank Ben Smith for being so understanding when I approached him to sign Ross"

Wilkinson himself added

"I'm looking forward to stepping up to the challenge that Cudd and Lyndon have given me, they have put their trust in me and I'm not going to let them down. Playing alongside the great players in ENL 1 like Stoney and Jamie Hayes is going to be fantastic for me. Let's just say I'm going to add a lot of spice to this squad"

Ross's paper work has been finalised and will be in the squad to face Invicta tomorrow night at the tent. Tickets are £5 Adults £3 kids and season ticket holders. DCF Junior members get free entry to the game. Ross will wear the number 55 shirt for the Devils.

Welcome to the team Ross
